We are proud to share that Jubilee House, our youngest care home in Leamington Spa, has received a Good rating in all areas following its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection. This achievement is a testament to the dedication of our team and the high standards of care Berkley is committed to providing to our residents.

Since opening in April 2023, Jubilee House has already established itself as a welcoming part of the community. The CQC report praised the way in which residents are supported to live their lives with autonomy, noting that “people were able to continue living their life as they wished to and made many of their own decisions about their care”. Residents described the staff as “kind” and “understanding,” demonstrating the warm and compassionate atmosphere.
One of the key observations made during the inspection was the presence and engagement of staff with residents. “Staff were visible and present and had time to sit with people and engage with them in a meaningful way,” the report noted. At Jubilee House, like all our homes, we recognise the importance of genuine human connection in promoting the wellbeing of our residents. This ensures that no one is overlooked, and residents feel heard, valued, and supported.

One of the core values at Jubilee House is empowering residents to make informed decisions about their own care. The CQC inspection report highlighted how people’s communication needs were carefully assessed, ensuring that residents were fully involved in planning and reviewing their care. This commitment to understanding everyone’s needs is at the heart of what we do, allowing us to deliver truly person-centred care.

As one resident shared, “They always include me in the activities. They know what I like.” This focus on personalised care ensures each resident has the right to self-determination, allowing them to lead the life they want, whether that involves engaging in social activities or enjoying quiet moments in our beautifully landscaped gardens.

The inspection report was full of praise for our incredible team. Treating residents with dignity and respect at all times is a core guiding principle of Berkley homes. Residents spoke warmly about the care they receive, with one commenting, “The staff are wonderful” and a family member adding, “The carers are amazing. They treat the residents affectionately, giving their time, cuddles, and care”.

We actively encourage our staff to grow and develop through initiatives like the Berkley Nurse Programme, which provides ongoing training and support to ensure our nurses and care team stay up-to-date with the best practices in care. This was evident in the feedback from the inspection, which found that staff felt supported by management and were well-equipped to meet residents’ needs effectively. The CQC commended the inclusive, supportive environment that encourages staff to deliver high-quality care while building strong relationships with residents.

Jubilee House has quickly become more than just a care home—it is a vibrant, inclusive community where residents can live well and retain autonomy over their lives. From the restaurant-standard meals prepared by our on-site professional chefs to the thoughtful layout of our spacious en-suite bedrooms and communal areas, every detail is designed to promote comfort and wellbeing.

As the community at Jubilee House continues to grow, Berkley remains committed to our ethos of delivering bespoke care that respects and empowers each resident. Under the guidance of our experienced manager, Philippa Cook, we will continue to build on this CQC report, always striving for improvement while keeping our residents’ needs at the centre of everything we do.
