Loyce Taylor

Dementia Lead

My name is Loyce Taylor and I have worked at Cedar Mews since it opened 6 years ago; in fact, if you cut me in half it would say Cedar Mews! My role as Dementia Lead is to ensure that every day we create special, outstanding moments for those who are living with a dementia. I have always had a particular interest in mental health and enjoy working directly with families and clinicians to ensure we provide the best possible care to our residents. I’m proud of my Leicester roots and my love of Motown music is well known by both our residents and staff!

Embracing technology for better care

As a leading care home, we strive to find ways to benefit our offering. This includes combining what the digital world has to offer. Here are some of the ways we are using the digital world to enhance life at Cedar Mews.

Connecting residents with their families

While our home is always a hive of social activity, we understand that our lovey residents depend on contact with their loved ones. That’s why, at Cedar Mews we are always working on new ways of communication and making ways of connecting more engaging and easier.

Enabling physical distancing

As we all know, 2020 brought about unprecedented social restrictions. We have addressed this with our state-of-the-art care pod – a garden room which enables residents to meet and see their families in person while remaining safe.

Technology to improve our processes

Cedar Mews always moves with the times – from electronic care planning to high-speed internet and on-demand TV. Anything which goes towards making our residents’ life as comfortable and hassle-free as possible.

Being a part of the wider community

Cedar Mews is located on the edge of Birstall village approximately three miles from Leicester, the village is situated on rising ground on the banks of the River Soar, the views from Cedar Mews are amazing.

A large part of what we do here at Cedar Mews is enabling our residents to engage with the local community – much as they would have done during their lives. Maybe a trip out to a historic place of interest or an afternoon at the bowls club or simply waving at children on the school bus, anything to make our residents feel a part of the wider community.
