Services at Shinfield View

Residential care

Residential care is for people who need help with day-to-day tasks like getting dressed, moving around and cooking dinner. It’s also for those suffering from isolation and loneliness who could benefit from being part of a community. Live life independently with the reassurance that our care team is here if you need us. And if you don’t need us, we’re still here for a chat and a cup of tea.

Dementia care

Dementia affects everyone differently, so our approach is person-centred. We see beyond the diagnosis to recognise each person’s identity and life history. Our staff undergo specialised training to understand unique needs. From art therapy to gardening, we offer meaningful activities that improve wellbeing in safe, stimulating environments designed for comfort.

Respite care

Perfect for primary carers who need peace of mind while away, or those recovering from hospital stays. Respite care provides all the benefits our permanent residents receive – from activities to meals – but on a short-term basis. Whether it’s days, weeks or months, you can relax knowing you’re in safe hands.

Community living that feels truly welcoming

Community life is central at Shinfield View. State-of-the-art facilities certainly matter, but it is the social connections that make a real difference. Conversations over morning coffee, shared interests, new friendships formed over activities, all of it creates a natural antidote to the isolation that many people fear.

Everyone is encouraged to be themselves while being part of something much bigger. Living somewhere genuinely warm and welcoming, with incredible luxury touches throughout, means that any worries about loneliness fade away completely.

As well as being part of a community, people thrive at Berkley because we recognise and celebrate them as the remarkable individuals they are. If it matters to them, it matters to us. This is how we reimagine care every day.

Your care

Care that works around what matters to you, not the other way around. We talk with residents and families to understand exactly what support each person needs, then fit that around their interests, routines and preferences. Some people need minimal help, others require more intensive support – either way, it’s designed around how you want to live your life here.

Our people

Shinfield View works because of the people – residents, families and our team. Everyone here has fascinating stories to tell. Residents arrive with decades of experiences, skills and knowledge that make conversations genuinely interesting. When people feel comfortable sharing their stories and being themselves, that’s what creates the warm atmosphere you’ll notice the moment you walk through the door. Our staff understand that their job is helping everyone feel valued and giving them opportunities to keep growing and learning.

“The level of care was simply outstanding! It's been everything I hoped for.”

Residential care supports people with daily living: dressing, meals, medication prompts and company. Nursing care adds qualified nurses on site around the clock, for people with more complex medical needs. If you're unsure which level of care is right, our team will happily talk you through it.

Most Shinfield View residents fund their care privately, often through a combination of pensions, savings, property sale proceeds or attendance allowance. Some may be eligible for NHS-funded nursing care or Continuing Healthcare contributions. Our one weekly fee is fully inclusive, so there are no surprise bills. The team can point you to independent financial advisers who specialise in later-life planning so you can make decisions with confidence.

Yes. Shinfield View welcomes couples and we'll do everything we can to keep you together, including suites that comfortably accommodate two and shared social spaces where you can enjoy meals, the bar and activities as a pair. If one partner has higher care needs, we'll design a plan that supports both of you, so the relationship stays at the centre of daily life rather than being reshaped by care.

Shinfield View operates on a single, all-inclusive weekly fee. That covers your suite, personal care, three freshly prepared meals a day, drinks, activities, salon appointments, use of the bar and screening room, and outings with our dedicated transport. Weekly fees depend on the suite you choose and the level of care needed, so we're always happy to provide a tailored quote after a tour.

Yes, and we'd love you to. Book a tour at a time that suits you, bring anyone you'd like, and spend as long as you need. We'll walk you through the home, introduce the team, show you available suites and answer every question over coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. Seeing the atmosphere for yourself is the best way to decide whether Shinfield View feels like the right home.
