Services at Blenheim House

Residential & Respite care

Residential care is for people who need help with day-to-day tasks like getting dressed, moving around and cooking. It’s also for those who could benefit from being part of a community. Live independently knowing our care team is here if you need us. Respite care provides the same benefits on a short-term basis. Whether it’s weeks or months, relax knowing you’re in safe hands.

Dementia care

Dementia affects everyone differently, so our approach is person-centred. We see beyond the diagnosis to recognise each person’s identity and life history. Our staff undergo specialised training to understand unique needs. From art therapy to gardening, we offer meaningful activities that improve wellbeing in safe, stimulating environments designed for comfort.

Nursing care

Our registered nurses provide 24-hour medical attention for residents with complex health conditions. We support people who’ve had strokes, recent operations or conditions affecting mobility. From administering medications to wound care, PEG and stoma care – our team combines medical expertise with compassion in everything they do.

Community living that feels truly welcoming

Community life is central at Blenheim House. State-of-the-art facilities certainly matter, but it is the social connections that make a real difference. Conversations over morning coffee, shared interests, new friendships formed over activities, all of it creates a natural antidote to the isolation that many people fear. Everyone is encouraged to be themselves while being part of something much bigger. Living somewhere genuinely warm and welcoming, with incredible luxury touches throughout, means that any worries about loneliness fade away completely.

As well as being part of a community, people thrive at Berkley because we recognise and celebrate them as the remarkable individuals they are. If it matters to them, it matters to us. This is how we reimagine care every day.

Watch the film below to understand what we mean.

Your care

Care that works around what matters to you, not the other way around. We talk with residents and families to understand exactly what support each person needs, then fit that around their interests, routines and preferences. Some people need minimal help, others require more intensive support – either way, it’s designed around how you want to live your life here.

Our people

Blenheim House works because of the people – residents, families and our team. Everyone here has fascinating stories to tell. Residents arrive with decades of experiences, skills and knowledge that make conversations genuinely interesting. When people feel comfortable sharing their stories and being themselves, that’s what creates the warm atmosphere you’ll notice the moment you walk through the door. Our staff understand that their job is helping everyone feel valued and giving them opportunities to keep growing and learning.

“Blenheim House has allowed me to be a daughter again and not a carer, and that is priceless.”

Blenheim House in Melksham offers residential, dementia, nursing, respite and palliative care. Each resident's care plan is shaped around their personality, history and daily rhythms, so support feels genuinely personal. Our events team plan varied activities every day, from art classes to outings in our dedicated transport, so there's always something to look forward to.

Yes. Dementia care at Blenheim House is person-led and built around genuinely knowing each resident. Our specialist-trained team work closely with families to understand life history, preferences and the small rituals that bring comfort. Calming design, familiar routines and meaningful activities, from gardening to music, support wellbeing, while our nursing capacity means care continues smoothly as the condition progresses.

There's usually a pattern rather than one clear moment. Increasing falls, missed medication, weight loss, withdrawal from social life or carer burnout are common warning signs. When daily life is becoming unsafe or lonely, it's often wise to explore options before crisis hits. The Blenheim House team will happily talk this through without pressure, and a respite stay can be a gentle way to test the waters.

Residential care helps with daily living, meals, medication prompts and companionship. Nursing care adds qualified nurses on site for more complex medical needs. Blenheim House provides both, plus dementia, respite and palliative care, so residents can transition between levels of support within the same familiar home, with the same team and friendships intact. That continuity is one of the things families value most here.

Blenheim House operates on a simple all-inclusive weekly fee, with no hidden costs or surprise bills. That covers your suite, personal and nursing care, three freshly prepared meals a day, drinks, activities, salon appointments, use of all facilities and outings in our dedicated transport. Weekly fees vary depending on suite and care level, so our team will happily provide a tailored quote after your visit.

Absolutely. Families at Blenheim House often tell us that moving a loved one in allowed them to simply be a son or daughter again, rather than a carer, and that's exactly what we aim for. Visit whenever you like, join meals, use our private dining rooms for birthdays and anniversaries, or walk the gardens together. We keep families closely involved in care plan conversations and are always reachable.

Yes, and we'd love to welcome you. Book a tour at a time that suits, bring whoever you'd like, and stay for a coffee or meal to really feel the atmosphere. You'll meet the team, see available suites and get an honest sense of life at Blenheim House. Evening and weekend visits are easy to arrange, and there's no pressure to make a decision on the day.
